The WingDing Study Group (http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/wingding)
wraps up our exploration of "Functional Programming in Java: Harnessing the
Power of Java 8 Lambda Expressions" by Venkat Subramaniam:
http://pragprog.com/book/vsjava8/functional-programming-in-java
The next meeting is...
Tuesday, Sep 23 7:00 to 9:00 PM
FlowPlay, Inc.
1008 Western Ave, Suite 300
Seattle, WA 98104
Functional Programming in Java will help you quickly get on top of the new,
essential Java 8 language features and the functional style that will
change and improve your code. This short, targeted book will help you make
the paradigm shift from the old imperative way to a less error-prone, more
elegant, and concise coding style thatâs also a breeze to parallelize.
Bob will moderate the final chapter; Chapter 9, Bringing it all together.
We will also discuss "whats next" for WingDing. The early candidates are:
"Java Performance, The Definitive Guide" by Scott Oaks. 12 Chapters in 425
pages. Its a little long for a WingDing but our investigation so far
suggests that this is a good book for us.
"Clean Code: A Handbook of Agile Software Craftsmanship" by Bob Martin. 17
Chapters in 413 pages. A little long but we've done Bob Martin before and
his stuff generally makes for a good WingDing.
Docker...something.
Anything else we should consider? Come out an make a case.
Bring some money if you would like to get in on the pizza. All are welcome.
